Ryad Dyor – where Moroccan authenticity is at home

Last month my most recent trip to Marrakech began with some kind of shock. When we arrived at the airport I left the airplane in total happiness seeing the sun and anticipating the city’s wonders and the warm weather so that I instinctively left my winter jacket with my keys to my apartment (and on the same key chain the ones of my office and to make things worse the keys of my parents’ apartment) in the plane. And I only realized the failure shortly before we checked-in in the most splendid riad I have ever been in Marrakech, surely one hour after I have left the plane. The hotel – manager Jacques welcomed us in his relaxed, cool mood and wanted to immediately show us around Ryad Dyor and its’ rooms but seconds later we were all on our phones talking to the Lost & Found counter in Marrakech, to Air Berlin/Fly Niki and our staff and friends in Vienna. Long story short, my jacket and the holy keys were found and I could pick them up the same evening.

The moment I was sure I will have my belongings again, Marrakech and Ryad Dyor were mine again. I could finally relax and indulge myself and totally dive into this riad’s magical place and enjoy all little details that did not stop catching my eyes. Authenticity, love, soul .. These words continuously came to my mind when sitting and having breakfast on the riad’s rooftop or dinner in the restaurant or enjoying a massage in the hammam. Literally running the whole day through the souk meeting one producer and craftmen after the other, coming back to this gentle oasis was always an invitation to experience complete tranquility and to work through all impressions of the day.

Since ten years Ryad Dyor is run by Spanish/Dutch Alberto Cortes, one who knows his speciality very well: together with his wife Yvon he opened hotels and villas for rent on Ibiza and Bali with an interior design and rooms representing a journey into the heart of Oriental splendour. They absolutely know how to achieve the perfect marriage between old world interior traditions and new world design, between authenticity and modernity. Located on the corner of one of the medina’s (old city) labyrinth alleys and just minutes away from the souk and famous Jemaa el-Fna square, Ryad Dyor offers seven rooms and suites (including restaurant, hammam, relaxation pool, massages, Wi-Fi, daily excursions, etc.) and is operated by five lovingly staff members who live hospitalty to the maximum.

To Jacques and the whole team: a huge SHUKRAN BEZEEF for having us at Ryad Dyor, we will for sure come back again!!!
